Welcome to the Cardiothoracic Surgery Rotation. All students interested in enrolling in rotations with our department are asked to complete an Add/Drop form and forward a CV and personal statement to Ms. Patti Lairsey (lairsey@uthscsa.edu). We hope your time on this service is rewarding to you personally and academically.
Twelve surgeons serve as the primary faculty and staff the division. They specialize in surgical procedures to include heart and lung transplants, repair of congenital and acquired heart dysfunction, lung resection, esophageal repair and resection, and other cardiac, mediastinal and pulmonary disease.
I am the Program Director and Dr. A.J. Carpenter is the Assistant Program Director of our Thoracic Surgical Residency Programs. Dr. Jay Pal is the Director of our Medical Student Educational efforts. You may use the open-door policy to discuss any problems related to your rotation here. Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions or concerns. Please click here to learn about our plans for you and resources available during our time together.
Respectfully,
John H. Calhoon, MD |
