Biosketch: Dr. Husain obtained his Medical Degree from the University of North Dakota. He completed a residency in General Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He then completed fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of North Carolina. He subsequently was a fellow at Riley Children's Hospital - Indiana University School of Medicine in Congenital Cardiac Surgery. Before joining the Children’s Heart Network in 2008, Dr. Husain was on faculty at the University of Florida as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics. He was a member of the Congenital Heart Center and focused on the surgical treatment of children with congenital cardiovascular disease. He is board certified in both General as well as Cardiothoracic Surgery. His interests include neonatal cardiac surgery, pediatric heart transplantation as well as overseas humanitarian work. He is an Asst. Professor of Surgery at UTHSCSA.
