Ian A. Makey, MD

Dr. Makey earned his Medical Degree at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans LA in 2006 where he received the Sam McCool Excellence in Surgery Award. He completed General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston MA in 2011 and 2013 respectively. He is board certified in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. His clinical interest is General Thoracic Surgery. He has research interests in operative risk prediction and medical device design. Dr. Makey joined the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center as Assistant Professor in 2013.
