Brenda Cabaza obtained her BSN in nursing at UTHSCSA in San Antonio and a BA in Sociology/Social Work from UT Austin. Her background has been in Critical Care and Cardiology. She has worked with the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at UTHSCSA with both adults and children for more than 20 years. She has been recognized for excellence in service with UTHSC, and was selected as one of the Express News nurses of the year in 2012. For the last several years she has exclusively served the children of the Congenital Heart Program, working with Dr. John Calhoon, Dr. Adil Husain, and Dr. Lauren Kane.
