Kim M. Hanks, MSN, RN

Mrs. Kim Hanks graduated from Northwestern State University School of Nursing in 1999. She began her professional nursing career in the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Louisiana State University Health Science Center–Shreveport. A Louisiana native, Kim met and married Eligah, an officer in the United States Air Force. Eligah’s next assignment was to the Pentagon. Kim worked at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit during this time. She received the Lily Nurse of the Quarter award and was nominated for preceptor of the year. Their next assignment was to Alabama, where Kim graduated with her Master’s from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

To show her dedication and commitment to the profession of nursing and the care of the critically-ill patient, Kim attained her Critical Care Certification in 2007.

The family’s final assignment brought them to San Antonio. Kim joined the faculty of UT Cardiothoracic Surgery as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in 2011. Kim enjoys the day to day rewards of patient care. She has precepted several Nurse Practitioner students and lectured at the School of Nursing.

Kim greatest enjoyment is spending time with Eligah and their 2 children.
